            ZooLights FAQs

How are you making ZooLights safe during the pandemic?

The same safety precautions in place during the day will also be in effect for ZooLights:

            • Timed-entry tickets must be purchased in advance online
            • Masks are required for all guests age 5 and over
            • A one-way path helps eliminate cross traffic, and social distancing reminders are placed throughout the zoo
            • Some indoor areas will remain closed
            • Cashless transactions throughout the zoo

In addition, we are adding a drive-through option on some evenings. Drive-through ZooLights means you stay with your group inside your vehicle, and will not come into contact with any other visitors.

Why is ZooLights pricing different for different nights?

The walk-through and drive-through experiences are very different and are therefore priced differently.

In addition, attendance typically peaks on weekends and the weeks surrounding Dec. 25. Reduced admission on some evenings offers guests an opportunity to save money while visiting on nights that are less busy.

What's the parking or transportation situation?

Parking is available in the city lot adjacent to the zoo and throughout Washington Park. Guests are encouraged to download and use the Parking Kitty app for safer and easier parking payment. Overflow/shuttle lots will not be necessary for this year's ZooLights because of capacity restrictions, oversized vehicles and trailers can park in designated areas inside Washington Park. Learn more about parking and transportation options.

Will ZooLights close for inclement weather?

If the decision is made to close the zoo, we will send an email to all ticket purchasers for whom we have an address, an announcement will be made to local news outlets, on our website and our social media pages. Refunds will be automatically issued to those affected by a closure.

            Are there food options available?

The AfriCafe is open during ZooLights along with other food, beer and wine options along the path, featuring hot chocolate, popcorn and the zoo's signature treat—elephant ears. On select nights, Verde Cocina and Bandit Kettle Corn will be available as well. Please note, this year there will be designated eating and drinking zones in Central Plaza, Elephant Plaza and near the Concert Lawn. Masks are required to be worn when not eating or drinking.
On driving-only nights, treats can be pre-ordered when you purchase your ticket.

            Are wheelchairs available?

Strollers, wheelchairs and electric scooters are available for rent through the Zoo Gift Shop. Learn more about accessibility at the zoo.
